MilkandCookies recently set all it's YouTube videos play at the highest resolution possible. The upside of this is that it assures the best quality video available. The downside is that it can cause YouTube videos to load slowly.

This is a good idea, something like what Facebook does I'm thinking. I prefer to keep the Notifications on the site. I'm not a big fan of sending emails from the site automatically, but if there is a demand for this, we could set it up.
